Sonic is on a mission to provide affordable Gigabit Fiber internet for everyone. They have started building Gigabit Fiber neighborhoods in San Francisco and in the Northern Bay Area. Together, Randy Basso and I were fortunate enough to be able to work with them on their re-branding effort that included brand identity, collateral, a responsive website, t-shirts, email templates, and car graphics. With the use of consistent colors, tone and photography, we were able to give them a strong presence in this competitive space.
My relationship with Levi's lasted over 15 years. While at Silverlign we were the only agency to work on all of their brands (Levi's, Dockers, Levi Strauss Signature, and LS&Co). One of my favorite assignments was to the collaboration between Levi's and Nike Skateboarding. This was a minisite that we created to highlight the new products and partnership. I believe Donald Wong was the Art Director.
We would revamp Levi.com every 2 weeks as well as launch hundreds of emails during the year. We also were constantly working on photoshoots for them, for their product images as well as major lifestyle photoshoots a few times a year. Throughout the years many people contributed to getting all of this work done. I would like to point out, Jackie Salway and Wendy Brown, two of my Creative Directors, that art directed some amazing photoshoots and had much to do with the creative efforts.

I worked on Reef with Randy Basso during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. We helped them with marketing concepts and big ideas to help drive online sales. One of the major campaigns we worked on was their online promotion during the Holiday Season. The overall creative look and feel was carried out across all of their social channels and promoted through out the season.
Another exciting program we worked on was for their Brand Ambassador Portal. We were able to track their ambassadors around the globe via their instagram feeds, and showcase where they were promoting the brands "Just Passing Thru" lifestyle.
I originally started to work with NatureWise on a packaging assignment for one of their natural supplement products. The goal was to come up with a package that would be worthy to compete and gain attention in a retail environment. This work lead to a long relationship that grew into reworking the companies brand, a complete packaging system for 15 products, collateral, a new responsive, commerce enabled website and the launch of their new beverage NatureWise Energy.
Bell Helmets was one of my favorite accounts to work on at Silverlign. They came to us with the challenge of designing a new responsive website, that would have a consumer friendly ecommerce experience. We able to deliver them a beautiful site complete with a state of the art buying experience, athlete profiles, and robust news and events. Hubert Shum, Kyle Maxwell and Doug Hughmanick played significant roles on bringing the design to life.
After completing the site, we were able to work on the Bell Built initiative. Bell Built is part of Bell's mission to help give back to the community by giving grants for the use of building new trails and parks for riders. The social campaign allows communities to highlight their projects and users can vote on the most exciting ones.
Alina Skincare is a new company that focus' on taking a modern approach to anti-aging products. I was able to help Alina with the launch of their company by working on the overall brand look and feel. We ultimately created a responsive website, packaging system, and collateral.
Classic Vacations is a leading travel company and Expedia’s luxury brand. While at Silverlign we worked on their marketing strategy and integrated communications initiatives. We worked closely with Classic on their corporate repositioning, ultimately resulting in a new brand identity and communications system that included their annual destination brochures. We continued to evolve the look over several years giving Classic its luxury look and feel. These are often regarded as the company’s finest and most effective marketing tools. We also designed Classic Vacations’ new Web site, direct mailers, travel document wallet and other collateral. Andrew Cambouris was the creative lead on many of these projects and Barbara Cox was our Account Director.
Vallarta Adventures is the leading tours and activities provider in Mexico. Post Silverlign, I worked with them on updating their overall brand look and feel. The main initiative was redesigning the website, their main marketing tool. I also redesigned their collateral system which is used for acquisition in the hospitality industry.
I was fortunate enough to work with Williams-Sonoma for a period of 15 years. The majority of that work was based around their websites, email acquisition and online advertising. Over that period I redesigned their ecommerce and Wedding and Gift registries several times. It was exciting to see how their website evolved into being a major component of their multi-channel retail strategy and received multiple industry awards and accolades. Ultimately the website became their biggest single store and has been regarded by many as one of the most elegant, usable and effective sites.
While at Silverlign, Target challenged us with one of its largest and most important initiatives—to develop Target’s first-ever integrated program directed toward a major segment, mom and baby. The result: the proud birth of Target baby. We created a unique identity, launched in-store and interactive buying guides, built acquisition and rewards programs, created outreach programs to hospitals and developed innovative merchandise ideas and environments. Target baby generated hundreds of millions of dollars in supplemental revenue, and became the standard for how Target reached specific lifestyle segments.
The success of the baby program grew into a successful long lasting relationship with Target. We ultimately worked on Target Kids, Target's Wedding and Gift Registry, Target Pharmacy, Target Health and Beauty and many other programs.
After having such a long relationship with Levi's and Dockers, we were ultimately asked to redesign the corporate website for Levi Strauss & Co. The design we created focused on the history of the brand, which has always been about being culturally relevant regardless of the era. Another major focus was to show how Levi's has made great strides in being sustainable and transparent in producing their products. The site also showcases the companies blog, Unzipped, and their robust social responsibility campaigns.
When I was at Silverlign, Tempur-Pedic turned into one of our biggest accounts. When we first started working with them, they were caught up in marketing the same way as all of their competitors. We were asked to rebrand the companies look and feel, making it more relevant and up to date. We were able to bring a sense of style and excitement that comes with getting a great night’s sleep. With any large retail company this is something that takes time. We introduced a new color palette, new typefaces, design system and new photography. This was ultimately carried out with the branding of their first retail store. Jackie Salway (Creative Director) and Barbara Cox (Account Manger) lead this project under the guidance of Randy Basso and myself.

Kain Performance is one of the most successful triathlon teams in California. It also is my brothers company. He started in 2002 and is still going strong today. You will see the Kain Performance logo on many of the competitor’s jerseys at any triathlon event through out California, the United States and even the World. I developed his logo, identity system and have worked on various projects for him throughout the years. If you think you are interested in getting into triathlons, he is the best coach. His slogan of “No Kain, No Gain” is authentic. I can attest to it as he helped me complete my first one and I continue to train with him today.

Scotts Valley Running Festival is a new event which will be run in Scotts Valley in the fall of 2016. I was asked by the Race Director to work on the events Identity. The main event will be a one-mile sprint race down one of the cities main streets. This is going to be a complete family affair with all runners welcome. They will even have an event featuring running with your dog.
Full Disclosure: Some of the above creative was done by members of my creative team while I was ECD at Silverlign. I try to explain my specific involvement in each description. As well, some of the above clients provided brand photography assets to use in their communications, that I did not art direct. Please reach out to ask me any questions you may have.
